Today I share with you my review on the Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. I had been wanting to try this Self-Moisturizing Gel Cream for a while, because it is so famous and I have finally done it! And of course, here I share with you my review. This is a fairly popular Clinique treatment, and they have different products within the range.
Clinique Moisture Surge: what is it for?
The Moisture Surge™ 72-Hour Self-Rehydrating gel-cream is supposed to provide the skin with the power to create its own source of hydration, and lasts up to 72 hours. Hence the name.
According to Clinique, this gel’s self-rehydrating technology helps the skin create its own source of hydration so it can continuously rehydrate. And in addition, it seals it to keep the skin always hydrated, fresh and with a luminous appearance.
Clinique Moisture Surge is supposed to act on 10 layers of skin and its effect persists for 72 hours. Yes, 3 days. Even after washing your face.
- Product type: moisturizer without SPF.
- Step into the beauty routine: Use after washing the skin and after the serum.
- Skin type: all skin types.
- Age range: youthful skin (but beware if you have mature skin, read on!).
Price and where to buy Clinique’s Moisture Surge
This cream is sold in three sizes: 30ml, 50ml, and 75ml. I bought it in the small size so I could try more creams, as I always do.
They sell it in many places. Below I leave the links to my favorite online stores so you can check the price of Clinique’s Moisture Surge Self-Moisturizing Gel Cream, as it changes depending on offers and availability:
Clinique Moisture Surge: How to use
Clinique cream, Moisture Surge 72 hours Self-Rehydrating Gel-Creamis conceived as a moisturizer, but it can also be given other uses for body and hair care. It turns out that what this special cream has is that it can be given other uses that have nothing to do with a normal moisturizer.
For example, you can use it as a mask if you apply a thick layer of product.
Being gel and zero greasy texture (attention to those who have skin with a tendency to grease!), it is also worth as a pre-foundation of makeup. So it holds up better but does not add that layer of product that you would have with a prebase to use.
But it doesn’t stop there! You can also use it for other parts of the body. One use is to repair the ends of the hair. Another use is to moisturize cuticles.
Now, the multiple uses of Clinique’s Moisture Surge Self-Moisturizing Gel Cream have been published in many places, but I, have done it, is to try them.
To begin with, I tested it on the ends of the hair, as a serum. Worked? Well, I’m sorry, but no. I think the hair needs a somewhat oilier substance to be able to provide hydration.
I also tried it as a mask using a very generous amount of product. Worked? Well, yes and no. 5 minutes are supposed to be worth it. In my case, after several hours the skin was incredibly hydrated, pulpy and beautiful, but the cream was fully absorbed, so, for me, that was not a mask. It was simply a moisturizer that I used more product than usual.
Clinique’s Moisture Surge Self-Moisturizing Gel Cream is sold as suitable for all skin types. However, being in gel, I think it is more appropriate for combination and oily skin. Also, as it is not specific anti-wrinkle, I would recommend it more for young skin.
These are the main ingredients of Clinique’s Moisture Surge 72 h.
Caffeine: helps activate the skin’s own hydration system. Also, perfect because I’m a super coffee fan!
Hyaluronic acid: This is my favorite. If you want detailed information on why, I tell you in this post about hyaluronic acid and how to use it correctly.
Activated Aloe Juice: known to provide hydration to the skin.
These ingredients combined in a moisture and polymer retention matrix to help reduce water loss and seal hydration.
My personal opinion on Clinique’s Moisture Surge Self-Moisturizing Gel Cream
I think it’s a perfect cream for young and oily skin. I rarely find a cream that really moisturizes being gel texture.
In fact, I also have to say that it acts a little on expression wrinkles. I use it at night, and the next morning I notice the skin as having more volume and the wrinkles around the mouth seem to be plumper. Although do not expect miracles, it is not an anti-aging cream.
I hope this post has helped you if you are looking for opinions about Clinique Moisture Surge 72 h gel.
As always, see you on YouTube, Instagram (here I tell you my day to day), Pinterest and Facebook.
