You know that purple shampoo has been one of the key pieces of my hair products for years. I have been bleaching my hair at the root since 2012 and it would not have been possible to maintain it without using this type of shampoo.

That’s why I’ve tried different brands of purple shampoo and seen which ones work and which ones don’t. Others I haven’t tried yet, but I’ve collected as many reviews as I could to complete my search and know whether to buy them or not. But ultimately, these are the best shampoos according to online reviews.

1. L’Oréal Professionnel Purple Shampoo

At number 1 is L’Oréal’s lilac shampoo, which is one of the most famous. It is more difficult to find because they do not sell it in supermarkets but in perfumeries type Arenal, Perfumes Club, and it is a little more expensive, but worth it. 2. Dalire sulfate-free purple shampoo

I especially like two things about this Dalire shampoo. First of all, in addition to toning the hair like the others, it does not contain sulfates, which is much more respectful of the hair fiber and the scalp.

Secondly, I love that it is produced in Spain. You know that everything that supports Spanish brands is my thing, so I’m glad I found a shampoo that besides being good is produced in my country of origin.

As soon as I can I will make a specific review about this shampoo to tell you exactly my opinion about it. But to summarize, I love it, and beyond marketing and big brands, it’s really good for hair. They sell it on Dalire’s website.

3. John Frieda Purple Shampoo

In this post you have the complete review about John Frieda’s shampoo, but I tell you from now on that this is one of my favourites. It’s super powerful and not as expensive as L’Oréal’s. The downside? I notice that it dries out the hair a little, so better use a mask or a good conditioner afterwards.

I have used this shampoo alone, but it also has conditioner and mask, if you want to complete. Of course, it should leave your hair completely gray if you use the entire range together!

4. Pantene Hair Biology Violet Shampoo

It is good value for money. It is not as powerful as the previous two, but it can come in handy if you are looking for only a very soft effect or an economical option. Perfect if you are looking to add a touch of money to gray hair.

5. Fanola Toning Shampoo

Fanola No Yellow Shampoo is sold in 1-liter bottles, so it spreads a lot. In this case, the Fanola brand stands out a lot thanks to this shampoo, for something it must be good.

Phanola’s Violet Tinting Shampoo promises to kill chicken yellow and make blondes and highlights look fresher and more radiant thanks to its violet pigments.

The purple shampoo is undoubtedly one of the most famous in Fanola. It’s super popular, and apparently removes chicken yellow like no other. However, it is one of the most critical about dryness.

Again, it seems that the more effective purple shampoos are, the more they dry out the hair.

6. Lilac shampoo from Mercadona

This is the lowest cost option (2€) of my entire list of lilac toning shampoos. By far. And I guess that’s why it’s gone so viral. Well, that’s why and because we always have a Mercadona two steps away and there you have your purple shampoo.

It has very good reviews, but it dries out the hair a little. Which, in fact, is a good sign, because for some reason the ones that dry the most are usually the most effective.

I am amused by the recommendation to wash your hands after use. The truth is that yes, some purple shampoos leave a little stain on the hands, but nothing, no problem.

7. Schwarzkopf purple shampoo

Schwarzkopf’s purple shampoo is one of the most expensive in the selection (€ 14.70) and is another very popular option among celebrities and influencers. What is special about it is that it combines blue and violet pigments to get a beautiful blonde.

What’s different about this shampoo? Well, it does not contain sulfates. If you are looking for a purple shampoo to clarify that it does not have sulfates, Schwarzkopf purple shampoo is your option.

8. Elvive Purple Shampoo

This is one of the options that leaves the hair softest among the entire list. Of course, I personally have always avoided Elvive shampoos because they say they contain many sulfates. It is also one of the lowest cost options within purple shampoos. So for these two reasons I had to include it in my list.

9. Purple Tahe Shampoo

The Tahe brand is for professional use, unlike the rest of other shampoos. Although you can still find it online very easily.

10. Redken Purple Shampoo

This purple shampoo from Redken is a product for professional use with very reliable results. They also sell conditioner and mask. But I would start only using the shampoo and would only resort to the rest of the range if you really need to tone your hair more. The characteristic of Redken’s Color Extend Blondage purple shampoo shampoo for blonde hair is that it contains neutral pH and protects the hair while toning it down.

We must remember that many purple shampoos dry out the hair fiber. So having an option that in addition to working the color protects the hair, is great.
