Today I’m going to talk about L’Oréal Professionnel’s Silver shampoo and my opinion about it. This is the violet shampoo, or silver to treat hair with yellowish nuances. Although I have mentioned it in countless articles on this website and on my Youtube channel, the truth is that I had not done a review as such until today.
By the way, if you are reading this because you have bleached hair, as you know your hair is in a slightly fragile phase so I recommend that you read the 5 fundamental tips to care for hair with bleaching.
If you are not sure what a purple shampoo is or what it is used for, I recommend that you read the post of the link. There you will see my before and after photos of using it, what type of hair it is used for and other brands of violet shampoo. Now, let’s talk about L’Oréal’s violet shampoo!
What is
L’Oréal Professionnel’s Silver shampoo promises to reduce the yellow tone of gray hair or dyed or bleached hair.
Like all violet shampoos, they are aimed at bleached, streaky or gray hair, but they are also a good solution for orange hair. They act as a neutralizer of yellow tones thanks to their bluish or violet color.
If you want to know more about how violet shampoos, and how they tone yellow or orange hair, I recommend this article on how to remove yellow hair.
If you want to read other reviews of shampoos and masks from L’Oréal Professionnel, do not miss the one from Pro-Fiber for damaged hair (a Holy Grail) or the one from Nutrifier with Glycerol and Coco Oil (great for damaged hair without aggressive ingredients).

My experience with L’Oréal violet shampoo
I remember that 8 years ago, when I started bleaching my hair, I always had a yellow hue that I didn’t like at all. Even applying a hue after bleaching kept appearing. She was desperate and didn’t know what to do anymore.
One day, talking to a friend who has a hairdressing commercial, she told me how could it be that I did not use a violet shampoo. This is how my love affair with L’Oréal Professionnel Silver shampoo began. I remember seeing before and after pictures of using it and I noticed a lot of change.
Since then, I have never stopped using a violet shampoo. And of the ones I’ve tried, this is my favourite. It is the most expensive, but it spreads more because you do not need to use it as often as others.
I’m talking about L’Oréal’s violet shampoo in a post that is quite old but one of the most popular on this blog: The best products for bleached hair (that’s three years ago!).
I also mention L’Oréal Professionnel’s Silver in a video I made about wick products. (At 3:12 is when I start telling you about shampoo.)
My opinion of L’Oréal Professionnel’s Silver Shampoo
L’Oréal Professionnel’s Silver shampoo is quite popular and has good reviews online. I’ve been using it for years, and I like it, but my idea is to try different ones, just to see how it is and to be able to talk about them in this blog. However, I think that if I wasn’t going to continue researching for the blog, I’d stick with this one and not try any others.
The violet shampoo of TREsemmé, that of Mercadona and that of Revlon have become very popular, they may be my next choices.
I have also tried Pantene’s violet shampoo, if you want to know about another option.
Whatever brand you use, the idea is the same: to counteract the yellow or orange pigments of the hair with this violet color.
L’Oréal Silver shampoo for gray hair
To finish, just mention that I have a partner who uses violet shampoo to treat yellow hair with gray hair and is delighted with shampoo. The truth is that a gray gray hair is much more beautiful than when they take that yellowish tone. That is, it seems that on the tone with gray hair they also work. And, by the way, yes, men can also have chicken yellow hair.
In conclusion, it seems to me a shampoo that works better than other brands and seems to serve to treat different hair colors: platinum blonde, orange, yellow or gray.
I hope this post has been useful if you want to know how violet shampoos work.
