I’ve been trying some new skincare lately, and today I’m going to talk about one of my latest discoveries, an antioxidant and anti-wrinkle serum that has gone viral. This is my review of the Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C10 Serum.
After my move I needed to buy a serum because I hadn’t been able to bring any. As at that time I did not know many of the English brands that were sold in stores, I decided to play it safe and look among the brands I already knew, such as La Roche-Posay.
I chose this serum because I noticed that my skin was dull and needed extra hydration, but I also didn’t want to choose an overly aggressive product like retinol, glycolic acid and the like. So vitamin C seemed like just what I needed. And then, from among those on the market, I chose the serum of La Roche-Posay because it was one of the ones with the best opinions.
What is La Roche-Posay’s Pure Vitamin C10 used for?
La Roche-Posay’s Pure Vitamin C10 line is designed to fight against skin aging, specifically loss of luminosity, firmness, irregular texture and expression marks.
This serum is formulated with 10% pure vitamin C to brighten and firm the skin. If you do not know exactly what it is for, I highly recommend this post about the effect of vitamin C on the skin of the face. It also contains salicylic acid, which helps the skin absorb vitamin C better. In addition, according to the description of the brand, it has a physiological pH, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin.
What caught my attention about this serum from La Roche-Posay is that it seems to have good formulation (I like that it is from French pharmacy), being at the same time effective. Or so it seems.
La Roche Posay has two serums, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, which are supposed to be used in combination. You use hyaluronic acid at night and vitamin C during the day. In some store I have seen that they sell them in a pack in which comes the vitamin C10 of 30ml and the Hyalu B5 serum of 30 ml too. But it seems that that pack is discontinued now.
I remember for example the Skin Renewal Serum from Origins, which is great for sensitive skin, but was not very effective against wrinkles or signs of dehydration. In the link you have the complete review of the product.
How to use La Roche-Posay Vitamin C serum
As you know, the serum should be used on completely clean skin and just before applying the eye contour and moisturiser. In this video of my YouTube channel I show you the complete steps of the easy morning skincare routine.
This serum is indicated for use during the day, but the truth is that according to dermatologists, vitamin C can be used both day and night. So we can use it both times (and that’s how I do it). If you use it during the day, be sure to apply sunscreen afterwards.
With the serum we must always avoid the eye contour area, since this area of the skin is more delicate and can react to products formulated for the rest of the face.
At the moment I am using the Pure Vitamin C10 serum together with the Hydra Zen fluid creams SPF 30 and Hydra Zen Nuit. One I use in the morning and one in the evenings.
How much does Roche-Posay’s Pure Vitamin C10 cost and where to buy it
I bought it at Boots, which is the most typical store to buy cosmetics in the UK, where it sells for £38, but it is easy to find in any pharmacy or drugstore. Below you have the links to the websites where I found it available.
The Pure Vitamin C10 is not that it is extremely pricy, but considering the ingredients used, I think it is a fair price. If it has so much popularity and people talk about it so much, it is for a reason.
Anyway, La Roche-Posay is a brand that is sold practically all over the world, and is easy to find anywhere in Europe and Latin America.
The Pure Vitamin C10 is available in places like Amazon, Sephora or Look Fantastic. But it is best to look at each store, obviously, to check prices. The normal thing is that prices oscillate a little from the moment I write this post.

Is the La Roche-Posay Vitamin C Serum any good?
First of all, although it is a fairly thick product, it does not generate shine on my combination skin, so fine.
As for the effectiveness of the serum itself, I notice the skin more “plump”. I’m not going to say that it has erased my expression wrinkles, because no, but you do notice the skin more turgid, more luminous.
To put it in some way, for me this serum has a “filler” effect. As if you had suddenly put a shot of hydration. That’s the feeling it leaves me.
As for the smell, Pure Vitamin C10 serum has a very soft, almost non-existent aroma. You may have wanted to do without scents because they are unnecessary chemicals that can damage sensitive skin, I don’t know.
I remember another product from La Roche-Posay, the Hydreana Légère, which was also for sensitive skin and also had no smell.
How to apply the La Roche-Posay Vitamin C Serum
As you can see in the photo, this serum comes with a dropper. It is quite thick, so it takes a lot of quantity and is distributed quite well. Of course, I have noticed that the end of the dropper could have the narrow end to make it easier to retain the product, but other than that, fine.
Another thing I’ve noticed about this La Roche-Posay serum is that it leaves some orange on the skin. Like other vitamin C products actually, but nothing worrisome.
For example, if you apply it before going to sleep, it does not usually leave orange stain on the pillow. At least my skin absorbs it.
How long does it take for La Roche-Posay Vitamin C serum to work?
As with any other skincare product it takes a while to see the results. In this case, however, it doesn’t take long for the serum to work. I started to see my skin consistently more plumped and glowy after one week of daily use.
My review of La Roche-Posay’s Pure Vitamin C10 serum
Not bad. The skin looks regenerated and more luminous, and the fact that the brand is from French pharmacy gives me peace of mind that it does not contain too many chemicals or harmful substances.
La Roche-Posay’s Pure Vitamin C10 serum is a product without much marketing (compared to others like Unicorn Essence, for example) but that works equally well or better.
